Test Stands for E-Mobility

Media-carrying components, e.g. for cooling and heating systems, have to withstand extreme load changes while operating highly efficiently, especially in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Instead of testing the load-bearing capacity and energy efficiency in self-developed test setups or in real operation, manufacturers can now precisely analyze their products with pressure and temperature cycling test benches as well as the functional test stands from Poppe + Potthoff Maschinenbau.

PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING TESTS

The compact test benches from Poppe + Potthoff Maschinenbau test components at -40 to +140 degrees Celsius (test fluid + ambient temperature if a climate chamber is used).

Temperature, volume flow and pressure changes are freely programmable in sinusoidal and trapezoidal form at a test frequency of e.g. 0.2 to 2 Hz and enable fast and economical testing.

Weak points in the material combination – for example around a weld seam – can thus be sounded out and optimized early in the development process as well as during production.

FUNCTION TESTS TO MEASURE ENERGY EFFICIENCY

In electric vehicles, devices such as cooling and heating units, pumps and control valves discharge the battery, which can negatively affect the range of the vehicle.

Poppe + Potthoff Maschinenbau’s function test benches allow for testing electrical devices, e.g. before and after a pressure load test, for energy consumption and performance at changing temperatures in order to measure efficiency changes over the service life of the vehicle.

The test object can be connected to a low voltage (0-20VDC/5A) or high voltage (0-600VDC/150A) power supply to simulate on-board battery and generator or traction memory operation.
